Even the most technologically developed, high-quality hearing aids are sometimes unable to filter out background noise in challenging listening environments. This is where Phonak’s Roger™ technology excels: essentially functioning as a third ear, Roger™ microphones stream a speaker’s voice into a listener’s hearing aid or cochlear implant, providing them with a clear, crisp listening experience that might otherwise be inaccessible to them.

In celebration of the technology’s advancements towards creating a society that is more inclusive to the hard of hearing and improving their quality of life, we’ve prepared a practical guide designed to let you know how to make the most of your Roger™ microphones. Enjoy!

Multifunctional and intelligent, this top-range gadget can be used in several different environments and situations:

Group conversations

Just place the Select iN in the middle of the table when using it in a group conversation with up to six participants and it will detect the direction of the person speaking straight away. What is more, it will also seamlessly switch between one individual to another depending on who is speaking. If multiple conversations are taking place, you can just tap a segment on the device to indicate who you’d like to listen to. As soon as you’d like to hear the whole group again, simply tap the center touch key.

One-to-one conversations

In addition to its brilliant performance in noisy environments, the Select iN also supports your listening experience across up to 10 meters (30ft)! Just ask your conversation partner to clip the microphone to their clothing or use the lanyard provided to hang it around their neck.

TV streaming

If you’d like to use the Select iN to stream audio from your television, you can connect its docking station to your TV by using either of the audio cables the microphone comes with. Then just place the Select iN into the station and sound will begin streaming into your hearing aids!

Bluetooth connection

The Select iN can be connected to any Bluetooth-equipped device capable of making phone calls such as a mobile phone, landline phone, etc. This will allow you to not only use the device as a microphone during phone calls, but to also accept, end, and stream them directly into your hearing aids.

Multifaceted just like the rest of the Roger™ range, the Phonak Roger On™ offers an array of modes for you to use, including:

Presenter mode:

When using the device in this way, the speaker can clip it to their clothing or hang it around their neck using the lanyard provided.

Table microphone mode:

Suitable for group conversations, this mode utilizes the device’s four 6-directional microphones and allows you to choose the direction of sound you’d like to prioritize, while reducing background noise for an improved hearing experience.

Pointing mode:

This feature allows the user to easily stream the speaker’s voice into their hearing aids by simply pointing the microphone in their direction. The mode functions within a distance of up to 2 meters!

TV streaming mode:

To stream television sound into your hearing aids, just insert the microphone into its docking station and connect it to the TV using the optical cable included in the package.

Audio device streaming mode:

You can use this mode to stream audio and phone calls from various devices by connecting them to your Roger On™ iN with the provided 3.5mm cable.

The Clip On Mic can be worn in two ways: by attaching it to the speaker’s clothing or by using the lanyard provided to hang it around their neck. The microphone must be positioned no more than 20cm/ 8 inches from the speaker’s mouth.

This small, but powerful device can also be used to stream sound from your TV, HiFi or tablet. Just use its docking station or the micro-USB cable provided to connect the Mic to your preferred audio source.

Multifunctional and intelligent, the Roger™ Pen iN has the power to change your hearing experience in a wide range of challenging situations. You can use the device for the following purposes:

Group conversations

Using the Roger™ Pen iN in small group conversations is easy: just place the device in the middle of the table and the speaker’s voice will start streaming into your hearing aids. If the group is not seated at a desk or table, simply hold the microphone in the direction of the person speaking.

One-to-one conversations

For the best one-to-one conversation experience, attach the device to the lanyard provided so your partner can wear it around their neck.

TV streaming

Fancy using the Roger™ Pen iN to stream sound from your TV? Just connect its docking station to the television using one of the cables included in the package and then place the device into the station. TV audio will begin streaming into your hearing aids straight away!

Making phone calls

Just like the Select iN, the Roger™ Pen iN can be connected to any device capable of making phone calls. To connect it to your mobile phone, you can either use the audio cables included or Bluetooth.

In case you’d like to use the Pen iN with other audio sources such as MP3 players, HiFi systems or PCs, use the same method as you would with your television.

Using Multiple Roger™ Microphones

In larger group conversations, using just one microphone can be inconvenient or physically impossible. Thankfully, Roger Clip-On Mics can be connected into a network so that the voice of each speaker is streamed into the listener’s hearing aids without the need to pass a microphone around.

Please note that additional microphones must be connected one at a time. Start by turning on the two devices you would like to connect initially and decide which one will be the primary, or lead device. After that, hold the microphones closely together (within 10cm/ 4 inches) and press the connect button on the lead device. Both microphones will then display a green light to indicate that the connection has been completed.
